Went to see my chemo doctor to discuss whether I will be receiving three high doses of chemo or if they will have to do the weekly treatments of lower doses. Well, because my liver count is still a little high and I have this fused kidney, we all decided the best route would be the lower weekly treatments so it doesn't put my kidney and liver in a more compromised sitution, but I will have to have a port put in so they can give me my treatments through it instead of poking me every week with a needle. I see the surgeon about my port today and they will be implanting it on Wednesday or Thursday. It still looks like we are on track with my treatments starting next Wednesday, September 23rd. I will still have radiation Monday-Friday every day, but chemo will be once a week now. It looks like It will take my chemo treatments about 4 hours and radiation will be about an hour...give or take. Anyway, I will be spending a good length of time at the Cancer center. I'm still soar and swelled around my lymph node area and I have been getting bad headaches, but the doctors say it isn't infection, just pressure on my ear canal and sensitivity on my nerves. I am so ready for treatment to start...I know I will be down and out for a couple months, but I am tired of the constant irritation in my throat, headaches, and the sleepless nights. It definetly is taking its toll, but I am still trying to stay positive. With the great support of my family and friends, I will get through this. I want to thank everyone that has been there for me. It means so much to know if things get tough and we need a little help, I have so many people willing to jump in and assist....THANK YOU. I also want to send out big hugs and kisses to my family out west. I love you all very much. Cindy...hope your treatments are going well and your always in my thoughts and Sue, keep on trucking and getting better...you sound great when we have our chats. Love you all.
